5 things you don't know about me (but now you will)
Alrighty, so Ted Rheingold from SpideySenses and the Top Dog "tagged" me for the 5 things buzz. Thanks Ted! So let's see, here we go....
1. My first computer was an Atari 400. My sister and I flew down to Miami to visit my father and he bought me the 400 and her a fake cabbage patch kid. We got home to NYC and hooked up the 400 and my mother came into the living room saying, "that is a piece of crap it has to go back" - 2 days later it was gone. I cried. I will never know if she thought it was crap or just that he bought it for me. What's worse? The fake cabbage patch kid lost its head 3 days later. My sister cried.
2. I coded the Wimbledon and French Open web sites for IBM in 1997. FOUR-THOUSAND web pages all by hand. And, Kip, the manager demanded that all HTML tags be coded in upper-case. I slept many a night on the IBM couch in Armonk. Though the overtime money was freaking nice.
3. I love transit. Bus, train, subway. I have the Manhattan bus map and NYC subway map memorized. My dream job would be to travel the world on transit filming a video blog where I talk about the system, offer suggestions to make the systems better and of course meet the people who work and who ride the systems. (any sponsors out there??)
4. I am currently learning German to communicate mit mein freunde.
5. I collect some odd things....
- Breakfast menus from hotel rooms (so far the most expensive is from London at $57.00)
- Key cards from hotel rooms (the coolest so far is the one from The Muse in NYC)
- Hard Rock glasses - total of 13 at this moment
- Pictures of signs - I love to take pictures of signs - check out a sample set I just threw up on Flickr. Here are a few samples samples:
And since I need to continue the stream, here are 5 I "goosed":

Welp, I don't really blog, so this will have to do. :)
1) I sing a lot. I was even invited to try out for the backstreet boys back in 93 or so, but turned them down. (oops.)
2) I drink way too much diet coke. I've killed 4 twelve packs this week.
3) I suck at math. I always got the answer right but hated showing the work because I didn't remember the formulas. As a result it was just chicken scratch and then the answer. After failing algebra 2 in high school 3 times in a row, I decided to become a programmer just to spite my teachers.
4) I like pop music. We're talkin Mandy Moore, NSync, Backstreet Boys, Take 5, Innosense... I love a lot of music but I catch the most flack for this one so I figured it would be the biggest "shocker". No, I'm not gay. (That's always the first accusation)
5) I'm not particularly talented, I just work hard. As a result I've seen a level of success already. I'm a jack of all trades, master of none.
