"you are not writing to Windows, or for that matter Mac OS X. The strategic import of this cannot be understated"

Uh... aren't you forgetting that Microsoft died back in 1995 when Sun released Java?

You'll need more than Adobe to break Papa Bear's cartel. If I were a company starting a new web-based project I'd still use Microsoft's development kits. In time, Microsoft will adopt Adobe's best ideas and integrate these innovations into their development platforms. Always have, always will. This is good thing. We spent a good part of the 90's going through what seemed to be endless format and language wars (Clipper, CA-Visual Objects, Visual Basic, C++, Java, Delphi, etc).

Those battles still persist today. However, now you can choose to participate or to be productive. If you want a future, choose Microsoft Visual Studio.
