Adobe has to be the number #1 company hit with piracy. I use GIMP to handle my visual designs personally, Photoshop and Illustrator costs too much…

Quite frankly, with current prices (even for upgrades) I’ll stick with CS2 as long as possible. And alternatives do exist, albeit less refined, but more than enough for everyday jobs.

If you think that Microsoft pricing infrastructure is insane, just look at Adobe’s and you’ll realize it could be worse… Not only for individuals, but for small to medium-sized firms as well, right now.

worse still is the fact that they try and sell their stuff even more horrendously overpriced in europe:

Adobe Creative Suite 4 (CS4) Master Collection, EUR 3559! (thats $4516)
Adobe Creative Suite 4 (CS4) Production Premium, EUR 2489! (thats $3158)
the list goes on…

I’ve been using the original CS since it came out over 5 years ago. Agree with everyone, there are no reasons to upgrade beyond about this point in time. It does everything that 99.9999999999% of people could ever want, and Adobe’s pricing is just ludicrous.

To upgrade from CS, CS2 or CS3 it is only $199 not $1000

or just buy it in India, it’s only $15 :) (Just kidding!)

Actually I use CS4 and it has some nice features but nothing earth shattering.

And lately a LOT of flash is not working nicely in IE. I know this is probably more IE’s fault than Adobe’s but it makes a lot of sites and blogs a real PITA.

I’m still using CS2. I just don’t really see the need to upgrade right now. Even though someone above pointed out that upgrade prices are much lower, Adobe’s prices are insane.

Check out Aviary (http://aviary.com). They have some great tools at good prices. For casual or semi-pro users, Aviary might be the way to go.

I have the CS2 Web Bundle Suite right now. I purchased it as an educational version, but it still works just the same and works great. I won't be upgrading anytime soon, especially with the current full/upgrade prices.

We homeschool – so I take advantage of the educational discounts. I got the CS3 Design Suite for $400. I’ll upgrade… one of these days.
