Advice requested: Cellular and Podcasting – help and get some swag

I need some assistance from ya'all. I finally think it's time to upgrade the old cell. And more importantly, I need help with a good podcasting solution.  Check out the bottom of this post for what's in it for you if you send me some advice.

Cell Phone/Service

I am looking for some advice. I am considering upgrading my cell phone and service. Currently I have a Sony Ericsson T637 with Cingular. It's old. It's worn out. It is (was) a great phone.

What I like about it:

  • Candybar style
  • Bluetooth
  • Works globally (quad-band)

As I go to more conferences and need/want to report live, I would like to look at upgrading. Perhaps either to a better phone and an EVDO combo or one data device. The benefit of the EVDO (I think) is that I could drop my cable modem and save some cash. Is a blackberry the way to go? What about a Treo? The new Nokia? I have read so many positive and negative reports on all that I come to you for assistance.

What I am looking for:

  • Works globally
  • Can write content easily
  • Bluetooth
  • Can be on any carrier as I am no longer contracted by Cingular
  • Might be nice to be able to write posts on the device vs. having to carry laptop always

Audio Podcasting

Right now I am using GrandCentral with Vonage to record the calls. While this works ok, GrandCentral provides no indicator that the call is being recorded. Twice now, the call did not record for whatever reason. I am looking for a better solution, preferably one that records in digital format. Also, I would like to find someone who can provide me with some great music for the podcasts.

What's in it for you for helping?

If you send some advice to me via email at allen@centernetworks.com and include your snail mail address, I will send you 2 of our new sweet postcards (designed by Emeriti). I can send the postcards anywhere in the world and will even stamp one of them if you are in the U.S. And even more importantly, I will put your name in a hat to win a $100 gift certificate from Amazon. Imagine all the things you can buy with $100! (postcards limited to first 100)

Thank you in advance, and I will update this post once I have made a decision and with the winner of the Amazon gift certificate as well.
