In fact, given that SocialSpark provides a comprehensive view of blog stats, you can even see the Alexa before/after charted that you were trying to understand.

For example, TechCrunch appears to have dropped about 750 spots. See http://socialspark.com/blogs/techcrunch-com (alexa rank chart)

My blog jumped over 100,000 spots. See http://socialspark.com/blogs/floridaventureblog-com (alexa rank chart)

Unfortunately, given that SocialSpark only launched this week, it's human-powered blog/brand discovery is in its infancy. Historical Alexa is only available from when a blog is registered or recommended by others.

Allen:
I'm guessing that sites with a high ratio of webmasters/SEOs saw a relative drop as Alexa tried to correct sampling errors (e.g. webmasters/SEOs more likely to surf with Alexa TB).

Have you tried SocialSpark/IZEARanks, IZEA's face-based analytics built from the ground up for bloggers? Like quantcast and GOOG analytics it measures from the source. It also folds in reader demographics and is the only service I know that provides the actual faces of readers going back to when you start -- not just recent readers. How do the visits/views reported there compare to what you're seeing with Compete/quantcast?

Even my website's ranking dropped, though by couple of thousands only.

www.empxtrack.com

Strangely, we are seeing a consistent increase in the number of unique visitors through Statcounter.com, the changes in Alexa ranking are slightly dis-aligned.

Wondering, how to make our visitors install Alexa Tool bar!!!
