Amazon and I are a Bit Late – re: Widgets

With all of my interviews and media happenings this past week, somehow I missed Amazon’s announcement that they have launched a collection of widgets. I received the notice in my email from the affiliate program. I just went through each widget creation and I am a bit disappointed. It would have been nice to show what I earn for each widget type as I am creating it. Instead I have to once again digg for the information within the affiliates section. It also seems like many of the widgets are not really widgets. For example, the product overlays which creates flyovers on certain words is definitely not a widget.

Darren at Problogger has a good overview of each widget offered by Amazon. He notes that many of the widgets were already available – it seems Amazon is now grouping them together from what I can tell.
