What Would You Like To Ask Twitter?
by Allen Stern on June 6th, 2009
As many of you know, I plan to stop by the Twitter offices on Monday and hope to get on the default list. An additional goal is to sit down with the Twitter team for an interview to discuss a variety of topics.
Here are just a few of my questions:
- what’s the current status of customer service
- dealing with spam
- more about how they determine who is on the default list
- metrics for default list traffic – both in-bound and out-bound
- Jesse Stay wants to know if Twitter has a CTO
I’d like to get questions from ya’all and I will do my best to get answers. Leave your questions in the comments and I will prepare a master list for the interview.

when will they sell to goog?
1. details on how accounts will get verified – will it lead to another hierarchy of twitter users – SUL followed by verified account.
2. Criteria to be featured as an partner app/website on twitter.com. I am sure Jesse Stay would like to know how to feature SocialToo
3. is there way twitter operationally detects the search is slow/down or does it rely on folks complaining on FriendFeed or a TechCrunch post to pay attention to it.
Why hasn’t Twitter deployed Extended Validation (EV) SSL to combat phishing and fraud?
All they have to do is upgrade their Certificates and tell Tweeps to look for the Green URL Bars . I’d love to hear what they say.
From one Allen to another, thank you!
your first question “what is status of customer service” is a trick question…everyone knows Twitter has no customer service.
Don’t forget to bring cup-cakes.

If it worked for I-J, it might work for you.
–
Ohhhhhh, are you pretty and sexy like I-J?
–
If not bring LOTs and lots of cup-cakes. Pat
If they plan to become like a utility, what do they plan to do to support this?
My reasoning is that to become a utility, the data flow has to be a standard. They also need to open up things even more. They are fairly open so far, but to be trusted as a utility, they have to be completely “naked” or transparent.
How can I get rid of Twittascope? There is no place on their page to “unsubscribe.” !!! Thais for your help!
When will background and colour bug be fixed? I’d like to redesign my home page.
Allen,
would love to know if the Twitter folks think that Twitter gained such popularity because it was so brilliantly simple – 140 characters to tell is all – vs myriad of customizable profile options, ways o express yourself. etc.

Why is there a tweet limit! And since there is, how about a counter to let us know how many we have left?
When is Twitter going to #fixreplies??!!
They’re planning to put ads on the site? (hope not)
I had a posting yesterday that I didn’t post and it posted in front of me. I changed my password immediately and was locked out for a quite a while. I have no idea what happened there?? I tried to find help and to no avail. Is this spamming and r u working diligent to correct this and protection of our twitter?? Where can I go when I hv this sort of problem in the future? R u working on spam and all the people who r connecting selling sex? Tanks.
Why don’t disgusting followers STAY blocked once you’ve blocked them?
Is this going to become a pay per tweet program?
Why is there no link to ‘contact’ twitter staff regarding problems?
how can i rid or know in the first place if a person is selling something
if twitter move to charge corporate accounts as has been sugested, how will they determine the difference between a “corporate” post and a “personal” post. I regularly place both, but would be a lot less likely to reply or re-tweet if i was paying every time. my average is 80 tweets a day of which around 40 are retweets and 30 replies or conversational. This would have a major impact on how i use twitter.
What is the best way to get people to RT your posts? What is next on the horizon for Twitter in terms of strategy that actually makes money for them? Has Twitter considered adding an application that could remain within the firewalls of corporations to use?
Much was said when people started with nicknames and decided to change to real names! I used and am happy with, my “everyday name” but would also like to have an account with my “Business name”! People can then recoginize the difference between solicitation and personals.
When an account is suspended or deleted, it would be great to have a way to drop them from my list of followers.
