I think this is a great move, and I'm sure it will progress. I like the idea of rental units, that could be a way offering $5 per use, and not $30 per item (where the person just forgot their charger). Maintenance costs would be the risk. As long as the got 6 rentals per unit, that would make it a no- brainer I disagree with pre-loaded media as the manual labor required to load would be cost prohibitive. Unless the big labels realize that mp3s are promotional tools (not products), and so free to the user, nobody would pay extra. I pay extra for PCs that don't have all the bloatware on them.
