Bullies use Bebo to organize student fight
Hmm. One of the major mobile carriers here in the States is currently running a commercial showing a bunch of young adults (<21) texting each other and then all appearing at a mall where they begin to shower each other with string confetti in a can. The officers run after them and the kids disperse.
Today a story out of the U.K. shows Bebo being used in part to coordinate a fight at a school in the town of Tiverton. Over 80 students it appears were involved.
"Police said the arrangements appear to have been made on the social networking website Bebo and by emails, mobile phones and text messages. Bebo said it had not been contacted by the police about the matter.
A spokeswoman said: "We would, of course, assist immediately with any investigation. "Illegal and inappropriate communications are in direct contradiction of our strict terms of use."
Will we see more of this as these tools become more popular with students? Will cyber-bullying grow? Will social networking tools such as Bebo need to hire people to police for bullying?

“We would, of course, assist immediately with any investigation.”
I wonder if an eager-sounding statement like this could precipitate a Digg-style revolt among users. I’m not saying it would, but I’m curious.
Also, how are these bullies? Thugs perhaps, but not bullies.
