Punked! Buzznet Acquires Absolute Punk

How off their acquisition of Stereogum and their rumored acquisition of Qloud, Buzznet has announced the acquisition of Alternative Music Community Absolute Punk today. Founded in 2000, Absolute Punk offers industry news, reviews, interviews and has a very passionate community. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Absolute Punk self reports 500,000 users per month and the Buzznet empire now reports over 10 million unique users per month. Compete shows lower traffic but remember that Compete is always off (usually lower) by some percentage and they only track U.S. traffic.

I believe we will see more of these blog rollups this year but with the sites still operating in a semi-independent state. This deal today allows Absolute Punk to get better quality ad deals and increases their exposure and distribution. And folks, blog distribution is key.
