Buzznet Acquires Music Blog Stereogum
Written by Allen Stern - April 4, 2008
Buzznet is reporting that they have acquired music blog Stereogum for an undisclosed sum. Stereogum focuses on pop-punk and alternative rock fans and artists in a blog format. Buzznet raised $25 million in funding in March. Scott Lapatine founded Stereogum in 2003 and will continue to oversee the blog going forward.
Lapatine noted that the blog will remain independent but with the resources of Buzznet for development and expansion. The first co-project will be Videogum launching next week which will contain content about pop culture programming, including television, movies, web shorts and video games.
Last week there were rumors that Buzznet acquired Qloud but I haven't heard any confirmation as of yet.
