With Everything Moving to Video, Carded Launches Personalized Video eCards
NY-based 10ton (recently on nextNYers) has launched a new application called Carded.tv. The idea with Carded is simple – rather than send a boring Web 1.0 ecard from Hallmark, Carded.tv lets you send short videos and personalize them with sender/receiver info and some catchphrases including "baby momma" and "assmunch". I have to admit that I don’t get most of the cards but they are funny.
They are even accepting submissions with the following call for submissions, "Think you’ve got what it takes to make your shitty homemade videos into timeless, Carded.tv e-cards?" The idea is a great way to get people to learn more about what 10ton does.
I don’t see any monetization yet but certainly they could stick an advert in at the end. I wanted to embed the sample card I made but there is no embed option. <rant>Why in the bloody hell would you make a service like this and not offer an embed? </rant>
