Yardbarker Signs Carmelo Anthony
This is very exciting news. Carmelo Anthony, mega NBA star now has a blog on Yardbarkers! That’s right, blogging has hit the big time! And if that’s not enough, you can also digg-clone vote for his stories so they hit the Yardbaker home page.
"I really like the community that Yardbarker has created because it gives athletes an opportunity to connect with the fans like never before," Carmelo Anthony said. "We all have interests beyond playing basketball and my blog will allow me to share some of my experiences both on and off the court with everybody. Nothing’s off the table."
From his first post, it looks like the blog is really more a journal as he hasn’t joined the conversation. But many of his fans have commented and pushed him to 73 barks.
While there are no financial terms in the release, one has to believe that Carmelo is getting paid for this blogging gig. Will we see a mass movement of celebs to get into paid blogging? And will these celebs use their blogs to push their sponsors? And I don’t mean a MySpace page.
