Goodbye Web 2.0… Welcome Cloud Computing
by Allen Stern on August 13th, 2008
It seems the new buzzword these days is Cloud Computing. Years ago it was called "ASP" then moved to "SaaS" and now it’s "Cloud Computing". While some have talked about Web 3.0, it seems like cloud computing is this year’s hot topic. The most simple definition of cloud computing is that it’s a way to access files and services outside of your own space.
With that said, we received the following video today which I thought was worth sharing:

so great – hilarious!
puahahahahaha nice one.
Allen. What can I say? Looks like the you got one of those tainted batches of Ramen Noodles!
I find it oddly refreshing and totally relevant in a Cumulus (Fair weather) kind of way. I too am a web 2.0 guy, but will most likely follow you to the web 3.0 keg party.
When the Nimbus (Rain Clouds) begin and W3 (cool way I just dubed to say web 3.0) is the chosen to be the coolest kid on the block by bloggers like you!
Do you think they will save us a chair when the 2.0 music stops? (Sorry Last FM and Pandora. Who’s your buddy)
Until then we just rely on the Cirrus (not be be confused with circus) clouds and hope there is at least a Stratus cloud level of entry for us old school 2.0 guys. (Respect)
To quote the great philosopher Casey Kasem "Keep your feet on the ground and keep reaching for the clouds" or was that Stars? You get the point.
From the looks of the Rackspace IPO (NYSE RAX) you are not the only guy who still does not get cloud computing. Your the man, and we hope to see you again @ SBSW 2008.
Older and more dated by the day,
Gary
P.S. Full disclosure I am a Rackspace Client, friend, and shareholder. I do like them very much personally and in business.
uhm ok :)
cn is on mosso which is owned by rackspace – not sure that has anything to do with the video but since you said rackspace, i will say rackspace too :)
Plz advice ’bout diz sikrit web3 KEG pahty. KTHXBAI.
very funny video
“And if the service breaks down — it doesn’t matter! It’s in the clo-u-u-u-uds!” (No potshot at any microblogging service inserted here).
Thanks for the laugh, as usual, Allen.
glad you enjoyed it Merredith – sometimes we must be serious, other times we have a bit of fun
