CNBC Relaunches with video: CNBC 2.0
CNBC.com has relaunched this morning. So far, I am not sure I see much that will shift me away from using Yahoo! Finance.
The site features a heavy video focus plus anchor’s blogs. For an extra $10/month, you can have access to the video archive. There is also a ticker at the bottom of the page, much like on the CNBC TV station. I am interested in reading Maria’s blog.
I believe that CNBC.com will see some good traffic, mostly from heavy traders and from financial institutions, especially because of the video archive. One thing that is not noted in the release is if I will be able to watch the Asia or Europe content from the U.S. or vice-versa.
The AP reports that they have hired 55 additional people to work on the site. I wonder where those 55 are located. My guess, foreign researchers.
Some shows, like Mad Money are already available as video podcasts on iTunes.
From the release (which ironically is on Yahoo Finance):
CNBC.com will air 3 – 8 hours daily of live programming, covering events that have the potential to move markets. In addition, CNBC.com will air a live newscast, “Market in a Minute,” at the top and bottom of each hour between 9:30 AM and 4:30 PM ET with CNBC anchors including Maria Bartiromo, Bill Griffeth and Joe Kernen, Sue Herera, Erin Burnett, Carl Quintanilla and Beck Quick, among others.
