Commission Junction Raises Minimums to Get Paid; Calls it an Environmentally Conscious Decision
by Allen Stern on July 31st, 2008
Commission Junction sent me a note today that they have raised their minimums to get paid. Commission Junction is the largest affiliate management company and I’ve used the service on some of my Web sites. Currently I am set to receive a check anytime I reach $25. The new minimum to receive a check is $100 and the direct deposit option is $50 to receive payment (I am not sure why I am not on dd).
Here are the reasons they shared with regards to the payment change:
- To streamline our publisher payment process.
- To offer publishers an incentive to switch to direct deposit because paper checks are less efficient, more costly and slower than the electronic option.
- To drastically cut down on paper consumption and better support environmentally conscious commerce.
- To better align our process with the industry because our minimum commission threshold to receive payment is, almost without exception, far below the current standard.
As I’ve seen with ad network after ad network over the past decade, most payment changes are really about the float. Is it in this case?

If publishers are complaining about $100 then makin earnings on cj is then like going to heaven
I can understand the check minimum since it costs them $$ but it doesn’t cost them anything to DD to a bank so there’s no reason for them to have a minimum and certainly not that high. If I earn the funds.. pay me.
CJ could be an excellent affiliate provider but they’re shooting themselves in the foot with the way they’re doing business and the way their site operates and looks once you’re signed in.
I’ve been a member for a while, joined for ebay mostly, and I’d love to use them more but they’re horrible to try and navigate and ugly and confusing once signed in even with trying different browsers (IE & FF) and switching from dial-up to high speed finally (thought that might help the speed of some sites.. it has most.. not cj.). The only reason I stay with them at all is because I’m fussy about who I use as affiliates and they have businesses that I want to recommend to my sites vistors/members.
Now i have heard, they are raising minimum again Is it true ???
I am approaching my current cash out. If they gonna raise i need to take steps to reach it as soon as possible
