Drugstore.com Expanding Internationally To Capitalize on Weak Dollar

drugstore.comDrugstore.com has announced this morning plans to expand their business to accept international orders. Citing the weak dollar, Drugstore.com notes that many overseas shoppers are buying goods from U.S. Web sites. Drugstore.com will sell into 34 countries by the end of 2008.

E4X will manage the transactions and the ecommerce store by only displaying products that are available in the country that the customer is browsing from. This should simplify the ordering process and perhaps drive more sales. Drugstore.com in the U.S. ships the purchased merchandise to a central hub where E4X picks up the goods and delivers them to the customer in the appropriate country.

No pharmacy products will be sold through this new international option, only "over-the-counter" goods like vitamins, diet patches, toothpaste, etc.
