Experienced Web Developer

Second Story creates informative and entertaining interactive experiences in the form of media-rich storytelling presentations, online collections, interpretive installations, and database-driven applications.

We are looking for an experienced Web developer to join our team in a full-time position. Candidates demonstrate a passion for interactive storytelling and have a proven track record of pushing technological limits. You must be able to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment; you are detail-oriented and have excellent communication skills.

* Minimum three years professional work experience developing code to realize information structure, user interface, and visual design
* Expert knowledge of PHP5
* Experience in one or more of the following dynamic programming languages: Python, Perl or Ruby
* Experience building XHTML, CSS, JavaScript front-ends; knowledge of accessibility issues and Section 508 is a plus
* Developing, deploying and maintaining sites using the LAMP technology stack
* Data analysis, developing data models, creating databases and writing SQL queries
* Experience developing within web applications frameworks like Symfony or Rails
