Surely facebook's role has changed a lot since the days when it was exclusive to university attendees? I think whilst it is a nice idea that it could be integrated with college life more, things to do with course registration are surely more suited to the university's website/intranet.

Seeing the future of facebook apps will certainly be interesting - when will it become saturated?

Hopefully facebook has not forgotten its roots and is destined to become the center of drinking, poking, and general tom-foolery associated with college, and now recent graduate life.

Don't get me wrong, I love to drink and party, and look at hot girls pictures on facebook as much as everyone else, but I also believe in the higher education system and think innovation CAN bring some positive changes for our struggling educational system.

Facebook started out as an application for Harvard to manage student affairs and keep students abreast of news, notes, etc.

Unfortunately, facebook is the farthest from this right now with only cursory integration with the schools that facebook represents.

It would be nice to see some integration between the colleges and facebook itself:

1. Notifications when papers or exams are due
2. Tie in the registrar and class registration with facebook
3. Study group and teacher help further integration
4. Sport and campus event full integration
5. Ability to discuss assignments or exams in a forum

It only took a couple of minutes for me to throw those ideas together, and I'm sure the developer platform is much smarter, and better equipped than me to make these implementations, but I seriously think Facebook should consider putting some of this money back into the universities that is building our next generation.

Facebook, you could have prevented me from missing my final Business Law exam ...if only the calendar was integrated!!!
