Factionist Offers Important Facts on Tshirts
Factionist is a new NY-based startup that offers tshirts with facts on them. Last week they announced a new site design and their spring 2009 collection. Factionist says their target customer is, “16-24 year old male and female urbanites, especially those who have an above average amount of Internet usage and consider themselves ethically and socially conscious. Our market is internet-saturated.”
They consider everyone who participates in their community or purchases a tshirt an investor. They have put their entire business plan online as well. They donate a percentage of the sale of each tshirt to a charity.
My only complaint is that they only offer tshirts in small, medium and large. Why not offer a larger variety of sizes?
Update February 2010: I just saw the Factionist on ABC’s The Shark Tank – looking for venture capital investment.

Hey Allen! Thanks for the writeup!
Just to respond to your observance that we only sell small/medium/large. It’s simply difficult for a small business as mine to justify the carrying of inventory of xl, xxl, xs shirts when we just won’t sell them that often to our target market. As we grow, I think we’ll almost certainly be broadening our selection, but for now, it just didn’t make good business sense.
