Web Apps Fat-Off: Day 5

Today I am checking out RunFatBoy with a basic review. Here is the overview of RunFatBoy from their web site:

Run Fat Boy is an easy to use workout system for beginner. No more intimidating images of women with ripped abs or men with bulging biceps. No more complicated medical jargon. Just a simple, easy to follow workout plan.

RFB makes it easy to setup your workout. Everything is in simple terms. For example instead of needing to know you can benchpress 100lbs at a time, you just answer if you can lift a baby without any strain. I think its an innovative approach to helping get the workout setup.

RFB offers a free 30 day trial and then it is $5/month. I think part of my overall assessment during this month will look at subscription based programs versus advertising based programs.

RFB has some nice Web 2.0 features from what I have seen so far. It would be great if the login button took me to my workouts rather than to my billing screen (how often do I need to see billing?) and also that the navigation should stay the same once logged in – just added the logged in options as well.

I may have incorrectly put in my information when I signed up because some of the weights it is asking me to do are just too heavy. I can click the “too heavy” button and it lowers them but I am concerned that if I print this out and take it to the gym, then I can’t really follow the prescribed measures. I guess after a short while the system will learn more about me and my needs and should balance itself out.
