Web Apps Fat-Off: Day 7
For the last post of this first week of the Fat-Off, I am taking a look at the last of the four participating web apps, Gimme20.
Gimme20 provides the following (I am giving a short overview of the first two items below):
- Fitness Tracking
- Community
- Weight Tracker – the charting tool is nice – you can create charts for anything – #of glasses of water, #of times you have checked CenterNetworks each day – anything!
- Blog
Fitness Tracking
The fitness tracking section allows you to record your workouts, chart your progress, build a workout, find a workout, and set reminders. Couple of the innovative items I have not seen on the others (may have missed on the first review) are the mobile reporting function and the workout reminder function. I can certainly use both of those!
Community
Gimme20 offers two types of forums: one for general discussion around health and then one dedicated to your local area. I would have left the local area off until there are more posts and posters as right now it says there is nothing in Atlanta and defaults to the entire USA. I like the idea but maybe once there is a bigger base of users. Posts are identified by their category which makes finding them easy.
Lastly, it looks like Gimme20 was built on the Drupal CMS. Nice implementation of Drupal and from another Drupal user – I really like this tool.
Note: there were some concerns about where some of the content came from on Gimme20 – you can read the concerns on this post.
