Another FeedBurner Bug? Some Subscriber Counts Halved

Update: as I noted, it appears Google probably forgot to move the clocks causing a shift in the time-space warp. Dick from FB reports that numbers should be back on Monday. It seems Google was focusing on the OpenSocial launch. :-P

FeedBurnerAppears that the time shift caused some weirdness at the offices of FeedBurner. I just got a note from Dr. Hung that he is seeing RSS subscriber counts across the FB network being nearly halved from yesterday's counts. I can confirm that checking the CN count, it is down about 40% from the previous day. This comes nearly a month after the last FeedBurner bug which added 1 million new subscribers to the TechCrunch feed.

And yes, I still stand by my earlier comments that RSS subscriber numbers are the 2007 version of hits. But it's a concern that actual readers might be affected.

If your subscriber counts are off, please report the % change in the comments below.

Update: Zoli is reporting (in the comments) that Google Feedcatcher is not reporting and that's the reason for the downward movement.

Google Feedfetcher is not reported in Feedburner today.

Figured it had to be something not reporting - what's funny is that it's Google and Google! Seems all the bugs happen on the weekend.

I forgot to mention percentage, but I think it will be in the 35-45% range for everyone, as that appears to be Google Reader's share.

Now I'm only showing a good 90-100 subscribers, but, I KNOW we should have anywhere from 8 to 10 million if my calculations are correct (keep in mind I failed math from 8th grade to college). Come on Feedburner, can you make a mistake on our feed and get us to where we SHOULD be? I know our live show on Tuesday nights (9PM EST on Ustream.tv) isn't that great, but, we want our correct count!

Guess I have more Google Feedfetcher subs than most, and Feedfetcher is definitely the problem. Went from approx 400 Feedfetcher to 0 overnight.

Yes when I checked my feedburner stats the google subscribers were gone. I know something happened earlier last week with the google reader subscribers feature that was newly implemented. People noticed that their subscribers went down in that service, and now they are gone completely.

When I checked my stats, all 12 readers were still there! (Well, it's 10 on the weekend, cause some claim to have a "life".)

Which makes sense because your blog is not really tech - and I am guessing that most of Google Reader users are tech users.

Definitely lost 50%.
