Fix8 Raises Another $2 Million For Human Animation
FIX8 has an additional $2 million in Series A financing from SK Telecom (SKT) today. FIX8 initially raised $3 million in Series A funding last October. The company claims that the Series A round is now complete at $5 million. SKT has also awarded FIX8 with a contract to lead the development of SKT's 3D avatar animation technology, which will enhance mobile and online communications.
The company describes themselves as, "FIX8's premium content offerings include virtual communications
technology that digitizes human expressions via webcam in real time. Users can animate live video on IM services including MSN, Yahoo, AIM and Skype. FIX8 videos can also be saved and posted across Facebook, MySpace and
YouTube. FIX8 Mobile will soon offer animated video chat and sharing on camera phones."

When showing a demo for a new concept, I'm not sure this one really convinces me of the reason why anyone would invest their dollars into it. While mildly entertaining, does not seem worth as much time and money that we're obviously seeing it's about to receive.
