Aah - didn't know that Amyloo! Doing something because someone else does something never seems to be a good method for success.

(btw Amyloo - thanks for stopping by! :)

But Darren - now you don't need that - you have a home here at CenterNetworks - can I fluff your pillow? I already put a nice chocolate on your bed during the turn down service.

So I guess we shall see who launches the next one, and then all the blogs will follow suit? Interesting.... I dunno, I still think forums are very year 2000. :)

GigaOm has or had forums, but I wondered if there was much commitment to them. No seed questions or anything to entice. They just sort of put them out there.

Hum, I think forums are a great way to interact with a community and I personally like them. They are also a great way for promotion ect. I wonder is Arrington's job board will suffer from the new forums? Why not just post a job opening on the forum instead of paying money for the board.

Also, TC's forum is a wonderful mess. I cant believe they don't have categories. Thats another place where CN has them beat!

Well shaxs you might be right... check out this thread on the TC forums. Job post 1 - and so I wonder if you are right - that the job board will slowly die... though 10 or so jobs were just posted from NBC - so my guess is that the big boys will still use the job board, while the newer bootstrapped startups will use the forum. Also my guess is that the recruiters like the one at NBC won't "get" that they can just post the job on the forum.

Thanks for the CN forum comment - I have been a forum master since late 1995 in one capacity or another and I understand how the model works (and doesn't work). While I applaud Mike for adding the forums - it is a complete clusterfuk in there right now.

You can't let the kiddies loose and expect to not have them tear the house down. Oh well, I am sure he will get the issues sorted out quickly. If you think about it, a blog of his size and respectability already has another 200 pages of content overnight.

Let's watch his Alexa move over the next week!

Yep, it looks like he is more organized now. The one thing I was surprised about was how nice everyone seems on the forums. A lot of the commenters are, well, jerks. Anyways, it is amazing to see how fast it grows! I am excited about it because it might make my startup, who may not get covered in the mainstream blog, get some more publicity. Anyways, I hope the forums here take off as well. I love forms. I am a die hard sitepoint fan myself.
