FriendFeed Down; Scoble Forced to Go Outside

Update: 12:50 Eastern - FriendFeed is back!

FriendFeedThe newest hot service with the Valley 250 crowd is FriendFeed. Last night on Twitter (last year's 250 service), videoblogger Robert Scoble was explaining that FriendFeed > Twitter in every single way. Apparently all of his markeitng has caused the service to go down. I repeat as of 12:20pm Eastern, FriendFeed is down. From what I can tell it's been down at least 5 hours now. When I checked Scobleizer.com at 7am this morning, his FriendFeed widget was not loading - that was my first clue that there was something off.

Dave Winer is also reporting the outage via Twitter. Later on today Dave will explain why we need a distributed FriendFeed :-P

Hutch Carpenter wonders if the FriendFeed outage might be related to the Wordpress outage from last night. Wordpress reported that a fire broke out at one of their hosts - perhaps FriendFeed is hosted in the same location?

Go spend time with mom people. And if you live outside the USA, Australia, Canada and New Zealand where Mother's Day is apparently celebrated today, go check out a CN sponsor!

Please report in if FriendFeed is down where you are and if so, what are you doing to fill the time?

you are the "down" master - youtube, skype, wordpress, twitter, and now friendfeed!

I noticed it this morning as well, but it doesn't matter much anyways. It's Mother's Day, not too many people online, it's going to be a slow news day.

P.S. My homepage was marked invalid when it was filled in as duffsdevice.blogspot.com, and after I fixed it, I get marked as spam:

"We are sorry, but the spam filter on this site decided that your submission could be spam. Please fill in the CAPTCHA below to get your submission accepted."

Thanks for the note Ryan- I've tested your name/email/website combo with a basic comment and it went through directly. I will alert the Mollom team that something in the words (no idea which) is causing the Spam flag to appear.

a) Scoble would melt in the air if he went outside.
b) It couldn't have been 5 hours. I was on FriendFeed at 8 AM EDT. And I didn't even know it was down.
c) Please, if Winer blogs that can't we all just ignore him?
d) Mollon still thinks I'm a spammer. Mollum = FAIL!

Thanks Cyndy - I will let the Mollom team know - If you get a moment, can you make a test comment that includes the same information you entered here but only with a simple comment like "this is very cool" - I want to test if it's something in the words you used. Thanks for your patience.

That one worked, Allen. I wonder if it's my frequent (twice in one COMMENT?!) typos of their name?

hrm not sure - but soon you will be able to register here and get lots of additional perks which will completely avoid mollom i believe.

You know what, though, Allen? I think I posted those comments from Camino and not Firefox... hmmmm.
