DriverSide.com is a venture-backed startup in San Francisco building a large-scale and high-volume consumer destination site. Our focus is in the automotive segment, doing some very new, innovative and disruptive things to change the way people connect with their cars. We launched our public beta recently and was very well covered by the industry.Over the last 10 years, the founding team has successfully built compelling consumer services and had them acquired by companies like Microsoft and Intuit.

Position Details and Responsibilities:

We are seeking a Senior Ajax/PHP web developer to lead development of a high-volume consumer destination site for the automotive space. The ideal candidate is an expert in JavaScript, CSS, Ajax and HTML who likes a dynamic environment. Must also have good understanding of web optimization and server side coding/web frameworks. As a lead developer, you set the tone for other developers, so we seek someone with strong sense of commitment and responsibility. Due to the rapidly changing team environment, strong communications and teamwork skills are a must. A passion for new web technologies, rapid build and release cycles and the startup environment are a must. Enthusiasm for cars is welcome as well but certainly not required.

Minimum Requirements:

* 2-4+ years of industry experience using latest DHTML and AJAX technologies
* 4+ years of experience working on large scale Web based products with PHP, Perl, JSP or ASP
* Strong command of web standards, CSS-driven/table less HTML layouts, DHTML (JavaScript 1.0-1.5, CSS1 & CSS2, DOM Levels 0-2) cross-browser compatibility & browser degradation strategies
* Optimization techniques (both in file weight and perceived/actual rendering speed), dynamic content retrieval, state management, accessibility techniques, device-portability techniques.
* Object Oriented JavaScript
* Experience working with JQuery, YUI, Dojo and/or Prototype to build production web applications
* Strong trouble-shooting and problem solving skills.
* Flexibility. Able to work in a dynamic environment

* Excellent teamwork skills, analytical and problem solving skills
* BS/MS in Computer Science or applicable experience

Preferred Qualifications:

* Prior experience with PHP frameworks like Zend, symfony, solar
* Prior Solid experience with JQUERY
* Deep understanding of OOP and event-driven programming
* Knowledge of Apache and HTTP, state management, and dynamic content retrieval
* Knowledge of HCI and application UI design
* Knowledge of web services (SOAP, REST, XML-RPC, etc)
