Geezeo Adds Investments – Only Social Finance Tool To Manage All Finances
Boston-based Geezeo has announced the launch of the investment products section which allows users to track their investments from almost any brokerage account. Geezeo now aggregates checking and savings accounts, credit cards, student loans, mortgages, car loans and investment data together.
"Automated access to aggregated brokerage accounts has been our most requested feature request from day one," said Geezeo co-founder Shawn Ward. "Geezeo users demand a holistic view of their finances when managing their money, and we are pleased to provide just that."
I have been impressed with the level of visibility Geezeo is receiving from mainstream press and media outlets. Geezeo is in the same category (social finance) with the newly-launched TC40 winner Mint but Geezeo provides the full view on a person’s finances.
Another update from Geezeo is around a partnership with the Motley Fool: "Geezeo is partnering with The Motley Fool to integrate that group’s innovative CAPS stock rating service, in which investors predict whether stocks will outperform or underperform the S&P 500 and over what time frame this will happen. CAPS ratings currently cover over 5,000 stocks and are generated from more than 1 million individual predictions."
Check out our previous Geezeo coverage and here is a sample screenshot of the new investments page:
As I have noted before, I still have conerns about the security of my financial info and what my financial institutions would do if one of the social finance sites was to lose my data.

I’ve been using it since the last time you talked about it and I like it, when it’s working. There are still some credit cards that I can’t add because their interface doesn’t work with it and the SMS often sends back garbled results.
Plus, when the service is down, it seems to bother me a lot more *because* they have all my personal information.
Support by the founders/developers is excellent though as they are very accessible and up front with what might be wrong as well as getting it fixed.
To my knowledge, Yodlee manages investment accounts as well, even company run 401ks.
Hey Allen, Thanks for the great post! More good stuff to come
Thanks for the comments guys…
@Rex, We take the security of your data very seriously and have taken every precaution to protect your private info. Geezeo doesn’t store your bank login, password or account numbers in our system at all.
In addition, Geezeo internally encrypts any identifying information so that it is impossible for anyone but yourself from accessing your balances and transactions (not even Geezeo employees/programmers).
Here’s some more info on our site

Looks like you’re a technical guy so you might appreciate this post from a recent presentation we did at an Amazon Web Services in Boston

@Rick thanks for hangin in there with us. Aggregating bank data is definitely one of the more challenging aspects of what we do. We’re working hard on improving the success rate in adding new accounts (obviously critical to our business) but also improving our speed and proficiency in fixing problems. We’re working on some internal workflow and think we’ll be in a much better spot in about 3-4 weeks.
@Brandon, Yes, Yodlee does allow you to add all these account types as well. Some differentiators for Geezeo include social community, goals linked to accounts and tags, product ratings and we’ll be adding some real nice budgeting tools soon as well.
Hope this helps everyone and thanks again for checking out Geezeo!

Why? Because someone phished my MySpace account. blah…. they spammed all my friends with stupid comments. This does however bring up a point about finance online. It is a dangerous, but yet cutting edge time we live in.
