My hope is that the pay-wall will filter out a lot of the wanna-be's

That was definitely a perk of locking down comments to people who pay. Can be an effective bozo filter!

I’d also look to integrate the “pro” option throughout the network of sites so that Pro users are recognized and new content can be pushed to them no matter where they are on the GigaOm network. Maybe even remove ads for Pro members and replace the ads with suggested/related content from the Pro site.

Clever idea!

I signed up. Why? Not so much for articles or research, but for the community at GigaOm. My hope is that the pay-wall will filter out a lot of the wanna-be's (remember, everyone on the internet is a pro) and trolls. Hopefully we can have some really intelligent and inspirational conversations.
