Yes, My Face is On Your Google Blog Search Results
This morning I received an email from Sean Percival that searches for his name returned my photo (from the Twitter Song). Tonight MG Siegler also "found out" that my photo is displayed on search results for his blog’s name. Steve Rubel has a good overview of the new Google thumbnail feature.
It’s simple folks, I had to do something. We don’t get any Digg loving so I needed to bump up the traffic. I’ve launched a brand new program named:
SMO = Stern Media Optimization
It’s simple – rather than try to organically get the best rankings, I went directly for the photo slot. Who cares that the photo doesn’t link to CN. Who cares that the photo is tiny. Who cares that I can’t select the photo I want to display? If you want to signup for this exciting new service, just send me an email. First come, first served and bring the big dollars, this service ain’t cheap. We will also be conducting training sessions to help others become experts in SMO – meet me down by the docks on Sunday morning at 6am.

I like to make sure the SMO program is running efficiently so please leave a comment if my photo is displayed with your results.

I’ve only got one word:
LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL
this could easily replace seo
uhhhh waiter, there is a stern in my serp!
I”m mad at Sean. I asked him a question via DM and he unfollowed me on Twitter… :)
oh who is this? i just thinned followers and may of taken you off by mistake! sorry! email? :D
i hear he is starting an email list
Google should look for a meta tag so we can specify a thumbnail image that we want to use.
I think Santa got bored and tried to monkey around at the Googleplex. I reported this and expect that we’ll get things straightened out.
Well then I hope a lot of people show up at the docks tomorrow morning! :)
It’s a bit quiet at the Googleplex with the holidays, but I’m still checking with folks about it.
Thanks Matt – I sure hope the people at Google know what you do for the brand.
