I am disappointed with Barack Obama's spam

When the Barack Obama web site wen't live, I decided to signup for his email notices. Not because I am or am not voting for him, but because I wanted to see how he handles the Web and this new interactive medium for politicians.

After the first 2-3 emails provided really zero in terms of substance, I decided to unsubscribe. Here is the confirmation I received on February 21, 2007:

BarackObama.com wrote:
You have been removed from BarackObama.com. If this is an error and you do not want to be removed from this email list, please resubscribe at http://ga3.org/barackobama/home.html.

About 5 days later, I received another email but decided to let it go. Today, I received another one a full two weeks after my unsubscribe confirmation. Here is a snippet of the email I have received:

Barack Obama wrote:

If you make your first online donation now, you'll be able to read a note from the person who matched your amount, and you'll be able to write to them about why you gave.

Besides the fact that (I believe) the emails were not supposed to be all donation emails, they have been.

So Barack, I am disappointed that you have not removed my email address from your list. While I know you probably outsource this, it is disappointing that my first interactions with you and your campaign are spam-like.

So, in this case, SPAM stands for Sophisticated Plan to Ask for Money. Just a thought.

Subject: Obama Emails

I too signed up for the email list right after his announcement. However, I don't seem to have the same issue with the content of the emails. Of the 11 emails from the Obama campaign I have received, 2 have been direct "fundraising" emails(both sent today, one asking me to match someone else's donation, another asking me to make a donation that would be matched by someone else). Other emails include 2 talking about the De-Escalation of Iraq Act of 2007, one to invite me to the Los Angeles Rally, and one to officially announce his campaign. I hope the email issue won't hurt your views of Obama. I understand the concern of not being removed, and I can not defend the Obama camp on that issue.

Maybe I did not get those emails because I am not in the areas where his rallies have been? I certainly hope I do not receive any more.

What do you expect from a candidate who is bought and paid for by special interest money? The one candidate whom you can actually trust is Ron Paul, the Constitutionist Republican from Texas.
