iLovePhotos – Sweet Photo Organization Software (DEMO)
Last week I met with the founder of a new photo organization and sharing tool, iLovePhotos. This might be one of the most useful, sweet photo utilities I’ve seen to-date. iLovePhotos uses facial recognition and tagging to make finding photos with a person in them easy. In the example we went through (and in the screenshot below), we selected a face and then mapped the face to the other photos. The software can run in standalone-mode or run as an add-on to iPhoto.
When you add new photos into iLovePhotos, the software uses the tagging and recognition features to map the people in the photos. After the tagging is complete, photos can be filtered by a person or multiple people. Also, you can setup feeds based on tags which automatically send emails to your contacts. The contacts can then view the photos in the automatic feed.
There is also a slideshow feature which ties in the tagging and uses an algorithm to determine attributes including how often a person appears in the photo or who they are next to. The slideshows can be shared online and via the iPhone.
The features in iLovePhotos should be part of Flickr and other online photo sharing tools. Facebook has face-tagging but it’s all manual. The only downside to iLovePhotos is that it’s Mac only although I am told a Windows version is in the works.

Have an iPhone? iLovePhotos integrates with your iPhone contacts:
When you tag people in your photos that you already have listed in your address book, the tag icon is updated to the address book. The next time you sync your iPhone your iPhone contact list will update as well. See how it works in this short YouTube video.
