Interview with Ray King, Aboutus.org

Aboutus.org is a web site that has received a lot of press over the last few weeks. Ray King, founder, states that Aboutus is a wiki about web sites. There were reports that Aboutus received funding of about $1 million. I wanted to find out more about the service and try to get some of the bloggers questions answered. I am still not sold on the concept; I think it puts added pressure on site owners to manage their site's page and what about those site owners who have no idea about AboutUs? Listen to the podcast and make your own decision about Ray and his service. I think that the notion of a site discussing companies could be good.
A quick note: Thanks to Ray for his patience during the interview. Using Skype to record the call, it dropped my mic three times and Ray was willing to keep trying. You may hear some Skype beeps during the interview.

- What is AboutUs? How did you come up with the idea?
- What's your business model?
- Whats your funding model look like
- How was the firm valued -- what went into the calculation?
- Do you believe that AboutUs is ethical?
- If someone wanted to find out about my site, why would they come to your site over mine? It certainly seems like this is a good way for you to get traffic routed to your site when it should be routed to mine.
- How do you ensure that trolls, spam, bots do not change this information and that I am informed when changes are made?
- It certainly seems like the Related Domains make no sense - either they are advertisers or honestly I have no idea where this information is coming from.
- Does your copied content affect my search engine rankings since you are basically duplicating my content?
- What are your thoughts about stopaboutus.org?

good interview. basically i dont think this site is "great", but it has potential to evolve as a usable resource. saying "here is a wiki go use it" doesn't make it a "markets are conversations" analogy though
