Interview with Bing Tan of Just Anger
Just Anger is a site where you can go to vent about your problems, and find other people that may feel the same way as you do. We're seeing a lot of emerging sites where you can share your thoughts and feelings in this sort of online social setting, and I think a lot of people may be drawn to Just Anger because of their slant on this particular type of emotional outlet.
I got a chance to catch up with Bing Tan of JustAnger. Below is our interview.
Kristen: Is Just Anger intended to be a serious place for people to vent, or a fun place to release anger?
Bing: The look of the site makes it seem like a fun place but the intent really is to get real people with all types of anger come over to the site and share.
Kristen: How does Just Anger work?
Bing: Well, first step really is to have more people know more about it so they can share upload their articles.
1.) Create a log-in account to post pictures.
2.) Read on other people's articles.
3.) Make a comment to share grievances and lend your support.
4.) A "dig-style" yes or no to add to the community spirit.
Kristen: What features are included with your service?
Bing: As of now the features as of now are just commenting and rating. New features we'll be putting up are features like Groups and APIs that will allow people to easily import articles (from their blogs) and export the articles that they write here. Don’t know if it makes sense to put up an an ajax meebo like service or an ajax conference yet but we actually have done the back end for these services it’s a matter of integrating them here.
Kristen: What are your goals with Just Anger?
Bing: To be honest with you, our initial goal was to do something fun that will allow our team to showcase our capabilities.
But would we be great if people really started to find this site as a means of a support group. It would be great if people with real problems like “alcoholism, cigarette smoking” actually started posting their bouts with their addiction here and have others support them in their fight.
Kristen: Any plans for expansion?
Bing: Expansion really depends on uptake. While we’re looking for more paid work for development (would highly appreciate the forward if you know of anyone), we do have 2 other community sites in the pipeline.
Kristen: You don't need to be a member to vote on someone's anger story. Are you looking to incorporate more interaction like this, such as an embed feature for users to post their anger story on their site and encourage their friends to vote on it?
Bing: Yes. Always looking for more interaction from the users!
