Interwoven to Acquire Optimost - Good Example of Social News Release
Interwoven has announced its plans to acquire Optimost, a NY-based web optimization company. The acquisition is valued at $52 million and Optimost’s clients include: Delta Air Lines, Lenovo, and Ask.com. Interwoven has been around forever and in my use of their systems have found them to be reliable.
“This acquisition supports our strategy to power our customers’ online presence, and we believe it puts Interwoven at the top of the short list of a company’s must-have partners for online business,” said Joe Cowan, chief executive officer at Interwoven. “Companies today understand that maximizing their online business performance is the key to accelerating growth and profits, and that content is at the core of their online strategy. By acquiring Optimost, we are providing customers with a powerful solution for optimizing their content – which creates the connection point between the visitor and the Web – to provide the most compelling experience, faster, more efficiently, and more effectively than ever before.”
What’s really interesting to me is the way Interwoven created a dedicated section to the deal including:
- Podcast
- Demo
- Press release
- Company brief
- FAQ
- Overview on integrated fit
While not the perfect social media release, it’s definitely a good first start. I would add:
- Logos
- Blogger bits - this is bits of content bloggers can easily digest and repurpose about the deal
- Video from the CEO about the deal - this can be viral
