Location: New York, NY

Overview:
Content as currency. Ain't it grand? This bigger-than-big Hired Guns client, a multi-billion-dollar media company, is on the hunt for a Business Development Manager to oversee partnership development deals and strategic alliances in order to enhance traffic to their recently redesigned "general interest" website. Their libraries are robust and their content is deep -- now they need you to maximize the true potential of these assets to create a richer user experience.

Gun Profile:
The high-energy Gun we peg for this gig will be a deal-maker who understands how to develop and close agreements with relevant partners, from the big online players (Google, MSN, AOL) to the vertically-oriented partners (women, religion, teens, kids, etc.), to social media sites and more. You especially will know how to drive new traffic to the site as you seek to build this online brand. The role requires a savvy individual who is a creative, skilled negotiator and possesses an understanding of online partnerships and traffic-building. You must be a true hybrid, with a bit of sales DNA mixed with the patience to work through contracts and legal discussions. We need someone who gets a total rush from closing deals and who will be excited to take this big media company to new places.

We're looking for a minimum of 3-5 years online business development experience and a proven track record of success working in a growth-oriented online business. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills are a given.

Nitty Gritty:
As the Business Development Manager, you will identify appropriate partnership opportunities through a deep understanding of this beloved brand while assessing the potential ROI. You'll be meeting with potential partners who are interested in sharing content and developing other programs to achieve business goals. The really good news is that companies are lining up to do deals, and your initial work will be to pore over the opportunities and suss out the best ones.

Day-to-day operations involve developing appropriate deal terms and vetting opportunities with appropriate colleagues in management, editorial and sales, working with in-house legal resources to shepherd agreements through to close, and owning and overseeing implementation of partnerships.

Inside Skinny:
Name-drop. If you've done deals in the past, talk about them. But don't shy away if you're an up-and-comer -- the GM is totally willing to invest in a star-in-training. Either way, we want to see your deep understanding of how to contact potential partners, develop relationships, and pitch ideas in a way that makes a real impact. While the site is definitely general interest, the demo skews a bit female. So, if you've done deals with the online girly brands, speak up.

Net-Net:
This is a career-making move for the right person. These folks are the big time, and they need you to be on top of your game. In return, you'll get exposure and gain experience from an awesome boss (whom we know and love).

How to Apply:
Email a cover letter (required) with your most recent resume attached to mediabizdevgig@thehiredguns.com. In the subject line of the email please write "Biz Dev gig - CenterNetworks". The cover letter should detail your experience relevant to this opportunity and include the reasons for your interest in the position.

No phone calls or faxes, please.
