Overview:

  • We are a new venture developing an online publishing destination and user community catering to the student market. We seek to hire an experienced CTO to oversee development and ongoing management of our web domain.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead technology strategy for the company’s ongoing product development, managing platforms and external relationships. Establish technical standards and ensure adherence. Anticipate and react to major technology changes to ensure the company maintains a competitive position.
  • Oversee website development through technical implementation to successful operation, interacting with our web designer and application developer.
  • Assess development status with regard to the project plan, functional and technical specs, contractual billing schedules, meeting summaries and statements of work. Monitor continual updating of the project plan taking into account time and budget constraints.
  • Manage quality control through technical reviews of ongoing development work.
  • Manage technical end of the editorial function and process automation for content collection including both user-generated and non-user-generated pages.
  • Supervise website operations and outside hosting provider, managing cost and service.
  • Serve as an IT resource to advertisers/sponsors.
  • Monitor ongoing web functions, hosting performance, capacity planning.
  • Support efforts to track, summarize and interpret site analytics.
  • Administration of URL’s.

Qualifying Experience for an Ideal Candidate:

  • At least five years of experience in developing and managing large scale website operations.
  • High level of understanding of top tier web 2.0 application architectures.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft.net development, Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft server technologies
  • Familiarity with agile development methodologies, build and implementation process, and application lifecycle management.
  • Experience with content management, publishing, and social networking systems is a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret technology and market trends as a foundation for technology and product roadmaps.
  • Working knowledge of alternative web hosting solutions. Experience in managing third party hosting solutions, ad serving, including video applications.
  • Excellent communication, issues resolution and project management skills. Strong ability to manage to a set of goals and objectives.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States on a full-time basis for any employer.
