Director of Marketing
You’re a classically trained marketer who knows all the rules, but you’re ready to exercise your entrepreneurial muscle and take a few shortcuts and risks. You don’t need a big budget to grow a business, just the free reign to try new things. You may not be a programmer, but you have a clue about how web technology works and how to use it, and you want to be actively engaged in managing, promoting, supporting, and growing a new brand within a start-up environment. It also doesn’t hurt that you’ll be working alongside a supportive team of pros who write jokes for a living.
A soon-to-launch topical humor website initiative between IAC and The Huffington Post, has an opening for a Director of Marketing in the New York Office. This position leads both sales and consumer marketing efforts for this new site.
RESPONSIBILITIES
* Lead and execute advertising sales development efforts
o Partner with IAC Advertising Solutions (IACAS) sales group to drive advertising revenue
+ Evaluate efforts and implement new initiatives to help meet sales goals
+ Partner in implementation and analysis of research; copy edit and coordinate sales materials with IACAS marketing; pitch ideas to increase pipeline
+ Support individual sales executives and planners, as needed, with property-related issues
+ Represent brands as product expert at sales calls
o Manage all advertising products
+ Develop new advertising opportunities to meet market demand (in-bound & out-bound response to sales)
+ Conceive and execute both custom and packages for individual marketers and key verticals
+ Ensure proper roll-out and sales education for new initiatives
* Supporting the President to drive unique visitors for the new site
o Conceive, develop and implement strategies to increase VSL subscriptions and the new site’s audience share. Tactics may include:
+ Viral pass-along opportunities
+ PR / paid publicity
+ 1:1 online influencer campaigns
+ Content syndication
+ Informal link/barter relationships
+ SEO
+ Local events/promotions
+ Stunts
Monitor, test and adapt all efforts to optimize effectiveness
o Manage all marketing partnerships
o Partner with President, Editor in Chief and Technology to guide product roadmap toward subscription and audience growth while protecting the brands’ values
o Identify and explore new opportunities (products or extensions) that could leverage existing email platform infrastructure
QUALIFICATIONS
* BA/BS required.
* MBA and agency experience a plus.
* The ideal candidate will have 4+ years of work experience, including at least 2 years of online marketing or sales development experience and 2 years of general marketing experience.
* Must be comfortable with an individual contributor role.
