Front End Developer

We are looking for an experienced front-end developer

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to) the following:
* Implement new and modify existing templates in the site’s content management system.
* Maintain the templates in a well-organized, clearly-documented, standards-based manner.
* Verify code across multiple browser & OS combinations.
* Partner with application developers in augmenting the functionality of the content management system.
* Partner with editorial in troubleshooting problems related to publishing the site.
* Partner with designers and product managers to test ideas for optimizing the user experience.

Experience & Skills required:

* BS/BA in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
* 3+ years experience coding and implementing templates for content management systems.
* 2+ years experience hand-coding XHTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Must have experience working with pure CSS-based page layouts.
* Strong experience with SQL and database APIs. Working knowledge of Perl, PHP, XML, and shell-scripting.
* Experience integrating with Flash applications or knowledge of ActionScript a major plus.
* UNIX proficiency mandatory.
* Ability to gather and translate functional specs.
* Enthusiasm for emerging technology, especially Web 2.0 APIs.
* Genuine interest in financial websites such as The Wall Street Journal and The Motley Fool.

The successful candidate must like working in a creative, fast paced environment & be capable of handling multiple requests with a fast production cycle.
