Detailed Description:
The successful candidate will lead the Global Learning and Development function as a leader and collaborative team partner across an evolving, business-focused organization. Major responsibilities are to identify, design and implement learning initiatives and programs to meet Dow Jones News and Business Strategy and ultimately build a pipeline of future leaders and strong individual contributors. Digital learning methodologies are required.

In short, the role of the Director requires basic business savvy and a visionary mindset balanced by a technical understanding of the learning function

The Director:
• Defines, develops and executes (with support of a team) key learning programs for the global
company
• Develops annual learning and development plan, with attendant staffing and budget
needs/recommendation
• Hires/manages internal resources and develops/maintains outsourced partners/ vendors where
appropriate
• Balances the need to deliver programming with the realities of working within a fast paced News and
technology arena
• Influences a culture of knowledge sharing by ensuring intellectual capital is being packaged and
leveraged appropriately to suit a variety of end-user needs.
• Establishes and leverages substantial and influential relationships with senior management as well
as external thought-leadership organizations and industry influencers; maintains pulse on
developments in the field of learning and development
• Anticipates and reacts quickly to shifts in strategy/focus by realigning and reprioritizing work streams
and resources as necessary
• Seeks out feedback from clients and work teams and demonstrates flexibility in approach to
deliverables
• Displays strong financial and project management skills

Position Requirements Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree desired in a field related to organizational and individual learning
• 8-10+ years in learning and development, 5+ of which have been spent leading a learning function preferably at a professional services firm
• International experience required; Experience in expanding a U.S.-based learning function globally is desired
• Significant experience in supervisory role for a learning & development function
• Demonstrable effectiveness/excellence in one or more core areas of learning & organizational development: complex program design & development, measurement, e-learning (or alternative methods for content delivery and dissemination), performance management, on boarding, management and leadership development, organizational interventions, teambuilding

Overview The Learning and Development Group facilitates the accumulation of skills and knowledge among all Dow Jones staff to create behavior change that drives greater value for our clients and our business.

The Director manages the global learning and development function serving 6,500+ employees domestically and internationally. This individual assumes a large role in delivering on our employee value proposition through the identification of critical learning needs and managing the team on the effective development and delivery of learning solutions.

Position will be based in Princeton, NJ. Position reports to the Senior Vice President of Talent Management.
