The SU Technology:
StumbleUpon gives people a new way to discover relevant and entertaining content based on personal preferences and community recommendations. StumbleUpon’s Web browser plug-in lets users discover and rate Web pages, photos, videos, and news articles. These Web pages are typically presented when the user - known within the community as a “Stumbler”- clicks the "Stumble!" button on the browser's toolbar. StumbleUpon chooses which new Web page to display based on the user's ratings of previous pages, ratings by his/her friends, and by the ratings of users with similar interests. Over time, as users indicate whether or not they like each newly discovered Web site, the StumbleUpon engine learns personal content preferences to deliver increasingly relevant results. This content discovery approach also enables users to meet others with similar interests and media preferences.

About the Position:
We are looking for 3 software engineers with strong web applications and database programming skills to design, build and support systems for StumbleUpon. Developers will work directly with Geoff and Garrett implementing new StumbleUpon features and improving the overall experience for millions of people. Developers will have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects including toolbar development, social search, video discovery, community organization and ad-network development.

Desired Qualifications:
* 5+ years software development experience
* 3+ years MySQL programming experience
* 3+ years PHP/HTML experience
* 2+ years C/C++ experience
* Linux/Unix expertise is essential
* Javascript/CSS experience desired
* AJAX and XUL experience a bonus
* Desire to work in a fast paced environment
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Strong collaborative skills and ability to fulfill multiple roles
* Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science or related; or equivalent work experience
