Web Editor
The Brennan Center for Justice at NYU School of Law is a non-partisan public policy and law institute that focuses on the fundamental issues of democracy and justice. Our work ranges from voting rights to redistricting reform, from access to the courts to presidential power in the fight against terrorism. A singular institution – part think tank, part public interest law firm, part advocacy group – the Brennan Center combines scholarship, legislative and legal advocacy, and communications to win meaningful, measurable change in the public sector.
We seek a Web Editor to help develop and maintain a website that is a reliable, up-to-the- moment source of information and opinion on our issues.
The Web Editor reports to the Director of Communications and works with the Communications team to edit and maintain the Center’s website. The Web Editor will also assist with general advocacy efforts.
Core responsibilities include:
•Updating the website on a daily basis to make it a dynamic and important resource for activists, journalists and citizens
•Developing and maintaining blogs
•Helping develop and maintain CRM systems
•Helping to draft content for the Center’s website and public education materials
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have:
•A bachelor’s or advanced degree
•Significant journalistic and new media savvy
•In depth knowledge of, and fluency in, the world of technology (including basics of blogging, general online publishing best-practices, social networks, etc.)
•Innovative ideas about how technology can be to used in social change efforts
•Very strong writing and communication skills
•An openness to evolving responsibilities
•A demonstrated commitment to social justice issues
•Familiarity with graphic design software (Adobe InDesign or other) a plus but not required.
