We are looking for an extremely capable individual contributor who has a strong background in back-end systems development and has applied their knowledge and experience in building high performing, scalable and extensible systems. You will be building the content storage and serving platforms to power Yahoo! properties, globally. These are large distributed systems, with web services interfaces, that process very large volumes of data in real-time. You will work collaboratively with engineering teams representing specific Yahoo! properties, such as news, sports, finance, local, front page as well as Yahoo! foundation technology teams to define and implement specific platforms.

Minimum Job Qualifications:

• Proficient in Java and/or C/C++

• Significant experience with development on Unix platform

• Knowledge of OO programming and design principles

• Experience developing high performing, complex server applications and distributed systems

• Knowledge and experience with network programming and protocols such as:

TCP/IP, LDAP, HTTP, SOAP, DNS, POP, IMAP, SMTP

• Experience with Web technologies such as Web Service architectures using SOAP/REST/equivalent

• Experience in SIP/SIMPLE and XMPP
