Kara Swisher on Demo vs. Techcrunch50

demo tc50Kara Swisher and Walt Mossberg took the stage today at the DEMO conference to speak about a variety of topics. I’d like some feedback from anyone with a learned opinion. My company has been selected to present at Demo in Sept 2009 and we expect to hear from TC50 soon. what are the pros and cons of both. don’t tell me which is better, but just plain facts so we can make our own decision. thanks!

techcrunch event was bad. no one outside of ego manic tech people attended. it was absent of any real industry people and an obvious boycott by the silicon valley ecosystem..the techcrunch attendee participation (or lack thereof) was a clear message and vote of no confidence on mike arrington and jason calacanis . it is obvious that their antics are not valued in business and industry.

this is more than just demo verses techcrunch. its a culture and bad example. for an event team to make millions on attendees and startups and then to not have basic internet access is horrific. cheap food and soda cans fresh from cosco (the bins were empty most of the day).

i was ashamed to be at tc event . the organizers made millions at the expense of the attendees and poor startups.

There is room for everyone on the playground – otherwise things start to feel uncomfortable and thoughts and ideas become bland. For example search engines and operating systems…. borderline monopoly type of companies.

  6. Allen – You’re doin’ a GREAT job!! Keep it up.
