Klout – Measure Your Twitter Influence
Allen - January 6th, 2009
Late last year there was a lot of talk and bitchmemes (fake and real) about measuring "influence" for a Twitter account. A new startup believes they have the answer for actually measuring the influence for a Twitter account.
Klout measures a variety of factors to arrive at a score for a Twitter account. The service can also tell you who you are influencing and who is influencing you. Klout is in private beta but if you note "new york times" in your request, apparently you will be granted access quickly.
The Klout founders are located in Los Angeles and NYC. Check out an additional review on Black Web 2.0. Here’s their demo from this evening:

I like your comment about “fake” – naturally all that crap with the valley bloggers is fake.
their website says “social web” – is it only twitter?
Thanks for finding and sharing Klout. As I look to round out my own presence and community of friends and influencers on Twitter this will be fun to track how I’m coming along. :-) I’m going to see if I can get on to check it out now. Thanks, Allen!
Thank you very much for recording this Allen. It was great having a chance to show off our product. I did get tripped up saying New York Times instead of New York Tech Meetup, ha. Either way I will try to process the invites as quickly as possible.
Right now our company is split between LA and NYC. I am here and my partner is in LA.
In terms of the question about the “social web” vs just Twitter, there is a good reason we aren’t named “TwitterKlout”. There is a lot more coming!
Thank you again.
