What’s Up at Lending Club? New Web Site and No Facebook Needed?
We have covered Lending Club several times since their launch. They are a Facebook application that supports p2p social lending. Tonight I see there is a new Web site (which looks awesome btw) and it allows me to login without using Facebook. It would be a bit ironic as most companies are moving into Facebook and Lending Club is moving outside. Hmm…
I had a quick instant message chat with Rex Dixon, Director of Social Media Content at Lending Club. He said, and I quote, "Allen, I have no comment on any changes to the actual site. I am working on a few things for the blog, but I can’t confirm or deny that anything is happening."
If this is true, Prosper and Zopa better watch out. Lending Club has a good bit of steam behind it and opening the lending process to all comers should increase the steam even quicker. I like the Google Maps mashup and the rate comparison charts. Check out our previous Lending Club coverage including our interview with CEO Renaud Laplanche.
