LessAccounting moves into public Beta
by Allen Stern on April 18th, 2007
Less has moved their LessAccounting software platform into public Beta today. Rather than say what they are, they have decided to use their home page to say what they aren't:
- We choose not to function, act or even smell like Peachtree or Quickbooks.
- Wesabe is great, we just aren't anything like it.
- Freshbooks or Blinksale: we invoice, just no robust calendar time tracking functionality.
- Not a robust CRM by any means, just check out Highrise by 37signals.
- If you need a sales management component that is built for a large sales teams, try Salesforce.
- We're not an address book or a check registry.
- No Calendar here, try iCal or Google Calendar.
As a former accountant, I look forward to testing out the software and will report back with a full review.

Errr…lessacounting ought to get their facts straight…while Blinksale may not offer robust time tracking, FreshBooks does…and it includes a pretty sweet AJAX calendar…

you know what…I may have misread that…looks they they are saying *they* don’t offer time tracking at less accounting. My bad. In that case the correct facts are, FreshBooks does offer time tracking…Blinksale (at least at this time and to the best of my knowledge), does not. Sorry to be clogging up your comments with this.

I am a small/microbusiness bookkeeper and I have become familiar with many of the web 2.0 financials and I am really looking for something better and cheaper than Quickbooks for my clients. I will definitely check out LessAccounting
“doesn’t function or smell like quickbooks”?????
are they kidding? what’s up with the “money in” and “money out” stuff? quickbooks added that almost 2 years ago. they’ll be lucky if they don’t get their butts sued with a cease and desist order.
