I saw your article on twitter from @OriginalSignal - I just ran a test of QR codes for myself and also think there are many possibilities, and the best ones aren't even developed yet.

I honestly prefer Microsoft's tag. http://www.microsoft.com/tag/.
It's more usable than the QR codes, and in theory, they work even when out of focus.

iCandy is a free QR code authoring and scanning tool for PC and Mac that lets you connect QR codes to content in your iTunes library, the iTunes store as well as any URL on the web. iCandy couples album art (or any other graphic image) with the QR Code in an attractive format. We've added analytics so you can track when and where your QR codes have been scanned. A tinyURL is also included for people who don't have a barcode reader on their mobile phone.

The iCandy Mac/PC client uses your computer's webcam so you can scan content as well - hold up the QR code to your webcam and it will decode it instantly. Found a QR code on the web? Drag and drop it on top of the webcam view window and iCandy will decode the image as well.

Our first applications for iCandy are centered around music promotion and we're happy to see Lost Highway Records using this technology.
