Mayor Bloomberg Shares Tech Details in State of the City Address
by Allen Stern on January 16th, 2009
Yesterday, NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg delivered his State of the City address in Brooklyn. You can read the full text of the address on the nyc.gov website. NYConvergence has prepared an excellent review of the tech and entrepreneurship portions of the address.
From their recap it looks like there will be spending for a variety of new police technology, competition updates for IT firms, data center consolidation.
There was also talk about increasing the amount for the NYCSeed program from $40 million to $50 million. We covered the launch of the NYCSeed program late last year.
I’d love to see open discussions between technology professionals of all types and the Mayor’s office this year.

I believe the increase from $40-50 million is not specifically for NYCSeed. If I remember correctly the program manages $2 million. I assume he was talking about the New York City Investment Fund (http://www.nycif.org) which NYCSeed is a part of. Correct me if I’m wrong.
thanks i will check
