Summary
Media Supervisors contribute to marketing strategy development and translate these strategies into innovative media recommendations/plans. Media Supervisors build mid-level Client relationships and oversee day-to-day projects to ensure that deliverables are met. Media Supervisors are responsible for training junior-level media department staff for advancement.
Job Description
Strategic Capabilities
• Demonstrate industry knowledge/expertise across all media
• Spearhead development of program strategies and analyses for Clients (e.g., target audience recommendation, media selection criteria/scoring model, geographic emphasis, timing/scheduling strategy)
• Command a comprehensive understanding of marketing communications which can be effectively translated into developing media goals, objectives, and strategies
• Write and deliver media strategies and oversee the translation of these strategies into the final media recommendations/plans
• Ensure media deliverables are met and align with Client goals/objectives
• Work with Clients to identify issues and opportunities on business.
• Evaluate, assess, and recommend the most effective media to satisfy Client’s objectives based on the strengths, weaknesses, and opportunities of each
• Effectively use and explain media research resources
• Oversee program results analysis and help translate information into observations/lessons learned
Supervisory Skills
• Plan/prioritize teamwork and delegate responsibilities accordingly
• Work with account teams to ensure a seamless integration of work
• Sell the media department capabilities across teams/agencies
• Effectively motivate staff, evaluate performance, and provide feedback on productivity
• Develop and train Media Planners Assistant Media Planners for advancement
• Ensure quality control of all media deliverables to Clients
• Oversee that the Media Planners are effectively negotiating media costs, positioning, and added value packages on behalf of Clients
Client Service/Relations
• Maintain appropriate mid-level Client relationships
• Serve as day-to-day Client contact on media issues
• Build Client respect and be recognized as a leader on their business
• Sell new project ideas to Client and help to grow business
Financial Management
• Oversee the budgeting process to ensure that the necessary resources are applied
• Handle budget allocation/negotiation with internal account teams
• Review, revise, and track project budgets
• Aid in completing monthly staffing analysis reports
Corporate Citizenship
• Support Agency philosophy
• Adhere to Agency policies and procedures
• Continue to be a student of direct and interactive marketing
• Promote positive working relationships interdepartmentally
